Au revoir to Global 33
Toys in Babeland celebrates Masturbation Month; Cashetta gives out $$; bloggers in person; and a party for grown-up gals

May is National Masturbation Month, so you’ve got a few days left to wank away (this is an equal-opportunity activity). I got to participate in a very special fundraiser, Toys in Babeland’s Masturbate-a-thon, featuring a dozen babes baring it all to raise money for pro-choice groups, as well as learn all about getting ourselves off. You’ll be able to see for yourself on HBO’s “Real Sex” this fall.

I’m always the last to know, so was saddened to find that Global 33 is no more, but it gave me the chance to check out Café Urge’s Money Wheel hosted by the lovely Cashetta. Prompted by the tale of a friend winning $1,200, we tucked into our bingo cards, the very sexy Raven using her Mac lipstick as a blotter (“Don’t press too hard - that’s expensive!” she admonished her friend).

While all we walked away with were tickets to the new Italian flick “Adored: Diary of a Porn Star,” you can be assured that we’ll be playing the Money Wheel many a Monday night to come.

It’s also the end of another era: the final episode of “Butch McCloud” (www.butchmccloud.com), “your friendly lesbian neighborhood superhero.” The fine cast of this live-action lesbian comic will perform its ninth (and last) episode, “The Death of Butch McCloud, Or Is It?” May 28 and 29 at 107 Suffolk St.

Lesbian comedian Claudia Cogan wowed a packed UCB Theatre crowd with her play “I, Claudia,” directed by Christina McGrath. This epic documents (with photos) “Operation Enchanted Birthday,” complete with preteen angst, and tales of coming out, temping and living in L.A. sans car (she became a “ride whore”).

You’ll get the chance to see it again on July 8. Says Cogan of the show, “It’s structured around my 10th birthday, the most important! day! ever! The turning point when I would finally become popular; my turn to shine and be worshipped as a princess.” You can find out how it turned out at UCB.

The WYSIWIG Ladies First reading was a resounding success, as girlie bloggers talked about everything from first time sex with a fellow flamer to buggering to drug smuggling. The next one’s June 22 at PS 122 and is also a can’t miss: “That’s so Gay: Tales of Extremely Gay Gayness.”

The Wedrock benefit for gay marriage was a true gay extravaganza, with everyone from Sandra Bernhard to Lou Reed, Sleater-Kinney to Bob Mould, Le Tigre to Moby, and a very skinny Margaret Cho doing a final number with Hedwig creator John Cameron Mitchell. Cho was one of the most ardently political acts of the night, spouting off her desire to go down on Beyoncé while throwing barbs at gay marriage foes.

“Rave Revue” at Capitale, celebrating P.S. 122 while ushering out Executive Director Mark Russell after a 20-year stint, was completely jam packed with elegant men and women soaking in all the artistry, from Karen Finley to Eric Bogosian to Elizabeth Streb, while we soaked in the delicious desserts and elegant décor. Scotty the Blue Bunny passed out Hershey’s Kisses while the elegant crowd tried not to get overwhelmed at the sheer star power on display.

I had the pleasure of performing recently with the hilarious Nichelle, who will host Chicks and Giggles at Laugh Lounge June 1, an all-girl comedy night featuring Michelle Maclay, Ana Carolina, Gayle Cripsin, Fiona Walsh, Laura Mannino

Two upcoming lesbian plays tackle gay marriage. “The Girl That I Marry” is a solo musical by Elaine St. George runs June 14 to 28 at Playwrights Horizon, while “Love According to Luc” features gospel and pop music, and tells the story of a lesbian seminarian trying to fit in with her conservative Christian church.

I haven’t yet had the pleasure of checking this out, but plan to sneak in under the age limit to Ava at Clubhouse on Avenue C, a new Wednesday “sexy lounge party for women 30 and over” hosted by Wanda of Starlight. With so many dyke nights teeming with the young and newly-out, it’s great to have a night for those of us looking for a little more maturity in our partying.
